We were asked if we could help Café Bar write and compile their first sustainability report. Of course!”, we said! After completing the assignment, we were then trusted to also carry out a climate calculation.
The need
Café Bar wanted to tell employees and customers about their sustainability work in a transparent and credible way and therefore wanted to produce a sustainability report. Furthermore, they saw a need to calculate the climate impact of their operations according to the GHG protocol.
The mission
Our team supported Café Bar in creating an outline for the sustainability report, collecting and processing data and information, and writing texts. We also helped them identify sustainability in the value chain and more clearly demonstrate their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals
When it came to the climate calculation, Melker from our team was tasked with leading Café Bar through the process. The project began with an introductory training and review of the GHG protocol and a guide to the tool we developed to collect the right and relevant data. Then it was time for Café Bar to search for the data and enter it into the tool. Hållbarhetsteamet then developed appropriate emission factors and carried out calculations. After reviews by expert consultants, the results were then summarized in a report, after which we also compiled the results in what we call a popular version.
The result
The report gives Café Bar’s employees a better picture of the company’s sustainability work and creates pride in the work being done. It also helps the company to position itself more clearly as a sustainable and responsible company towards its customers and partners. The work has also given Café Bar insight into which areas they need to develop in the future to take their sustainability work further.
The climate calculation also provided a good basis for the company to understand where they have their main climate impact, and what actions are appropriate to take as a first step. Hållbarhetsteamet has also made a graphically designed summary of the results, which is published on Café Bar’s website. This can easily be used in communication with customers and other stakeholders, but also internally at the company for employees who have not been involved in the project.
We enlisted the help of Hållbarhetsteamet to produce our Sustainability Report. What I appreciated most was that they were thorough and really understood our company and our work. It was like working with a colleague.
