Climate work

Last fall, we took an important climate step forward together with Almi in Jönköping, by conducting the very first climate assessment for one of Almi’s regional units.

Briefly about Almi Jönköping

Almi AB is owned by the state and is the parent company of a group with 16 regional subsidiaries, of which Almi Jönköping is one. Hållbarhetsteamet has for many years had a close relationship with Almi, as we have carried out many assignments through them to companies that have been granted support from Almi. Although we have worked together in both assignments, workshops and training, the latest assignment is a little different as we were entrusted to help Almi Jönköping as a company.

The mission

The work started with the implementation of a climate assessment according to the GHG Protocol. This service includes training and start-up, where we agree together on delimitations (what is to be included) and possible ways to present the result. As Almi is a service company, it was also an exciting climate assessment for us to carry out, as we usually carry out calculations for manufacturing companies that buy physical products and materials. After Almi collected all the relevant data, Hållbarhetsteamet carried out the calculations, the results of which were then compiled in a report.

This report then formed the basis for a subsequent workshop.

The results were used in the workshop

Despite the limited direct climate impact of Almi’s advisory services, they play a critical role in the region’s SME ecosystem. This insight laid the groundwork for a thought-provoking workshop we held with Max Sundvall, Business Advisor at Almi, where we used the recent climate data as a starting point for a discussion with Almi advisors around three key questions:

  • How can ALMI actively reduce its climate impact by 2024?
  • What steps can be taken to halve emissions by 2030?
  • What do advisors need to provide effective support to their business contacts on sustainability issues?

Not only did the workshop result in engaged participation, but it also succeeded in creating a sense of ownership of climate issues among Almi employees.

We look forward to continuing to organize climate workshops that inspire more people to get involved and develop their capacity to address climate-related issues together with our customers!

I’m curious about climate work!
